We all love spotting gaffes and blunders in life, as it’s the little things that keep us entertained. However one awkward mistake by online fashion retailer has landed them in a spot of hot water with shoppers. A user named Ronnie from London shared several images from the company’s website on social media. In the photos, a model is shown wearing a DESIGN midi dress with cami straps and cut out detail, which has been clipped in at the waist in order to make it fit her properly. The clips are fully visible in the images. Ronnie captioned her post: “Uhmm @Asos… think you forgot to edit those clips out.” Her tweet went viral, garnering over 2,000 retweets and more than 16,000 likes. But as well as being amusing, the blunder also sparked furious backlash from other shoppers, who were angry with the retailer for not truly showing how the garment fits. One person replied: “Hey why not clearly show how the dress fits, instead of changing it to fit in a different way than it clearly wouldn’t without the clip, definitely an idea for the specialist team.” Another replied: “The irony of them clearly deceiving what the clothes actually look like yet recently banning accounts that return too many items.” Ronnie couldn’t agree more with these and responded: “Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! And there’s you doubting your body shape when the dress doesn’t hang right like the pictures and what not.” Someone else added: “You don’t show the true fit, so customers won’t be receiving the product they think they’re ordering.” Not everyone was convinced this was the case though, some thought perhaps they didn’t have a dress in the model’s size at the photo shoot and had to clip it, like they do to mannequins in retail stores. A spokesperson for replied to the tweet, saying: “Hi Ronnie, thank you for raising this with us. We’re sorry to hear the clips are showing in the picture. We’ll now raise this with our specialist team. If you have any questions please send us a message and we’d be happy to help.” The company have since removed all trace of the clips from the images on their website. “Kris Jenner works quick but works quicker,” joked one user on noticing that they were gone.
